A Single Case Agreement (SCA) is a temporary, one-time contract between an insurance company and an out-of-network behavioral health provider, allowing a patient to receive in-network coverage for specialized care. It is used when in-network providers are unavailable, too far, or lack the required expertise.

Key Reasons for Requesting an SCA

• Specialized Expertise: The patient requires a specific type of therapy not available in-network.

• Network Inadequacy: No in-network providers are available within a reasonable distance.

• Continuity of Care: A patient's current in-network provider changes networks, and the patient needs to continue treatment to avoid disruption.
